Senior DBA – Contract

We are seeking an experienced database engineer for a project engagement to migrate an existing MS SQL DB on Azure to PostgreSQL on AWS.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Remote role
  • Fixed duration contract for the migration of an existing MSSQL DB on Azure to PostgreSQL on AWS
  • Collaborate with the Data Science and Development teams for requirements, testing and validation
  • Effectively communicate and manage expectations to deliver a completed and fully tested migration on schedule

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years experience in software product development

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Hybrid-remote role
  • During ramp-up and for the first 90 days, significant time will be required on-site at the Rockville, MD headquarters
  • Occasional ad hoc visits required to Rockville, MD or Birmingham, AL for collaborative work including strategic and/or product design sessions
  • Day-to-day elements of the role can be performed remote. We emphasize on site work primarily for situations of heavier collaboration
  • Lead the design, development and deployment of backend and frontend solutions
  • Collaborate with other internal teams including Business Development, Transporter Support, Operations, Finance etc. for design and feedback
  • Regularly facilitate teamwide standups, design sessions, roadmap planning, backlog management, code reviews, etc.
  • Lead research, experimentation and prototyping efforts with effective delegation for the growth of individual teammates and democratization of knowledge
  • Enforce strong coding, testing and documentation habits to support the upkeep of an efficient, scalable and maintainable product set

Human Resources Manager

About the Role:
The Human Resource Manager will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, training new hires on HR software platform that administers pay, benefits, and leave. In addition, you will assist in completing and enforcing company policies and practices. You will post/recruit qualified candidates for all positions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
